Devonte was the only son and last child of Mr & Mrs Ray and Karleen Jeffers. Devonte was the baby of the family and thus, the baby brother to sisters Tchara, Shaniece and Racquerra. As his sisters left for college, he became his mommy's companion and protector and his dad's playmate. Everyone loved Devonte...his immediate and extended family, classmates, teammates and friends. His wonderful personality and demeanor made him lovable. He was a very loving child to both of his parents. To all, he was respectful, he was pleasant, he exhibited good manners, He was all you could ask for in a child. Devonte started high school this past fall. He made the football team and was quite excited. He was happy to travel to St. Croix to play for the territorial championship and return to St. Thomas a winner. He had high hopes for next year's season. As Devonte's parents were planning to travel to St. Kitts for the Christmas holidays, Devonte chose to spend his vacation with his sister in New York. His vacation was winding down. On January 4th, he went on an errand to the store. As he waited to cross the street, he was the victim of a hit and run accident. He suffered severe injuries which he was unable to survive. Devonte went Home to be with the Lord on January 5, 2012. The police caught the driver. God is good and we are faithful. We are stunned and we are sad, but we will not question God. We will continue to hold on to God's Faith and Grace. We are happy that we were blessed to have Devonte in our lives for 14 years. He will live in our hearts forever.
